"Deadlock, negative vote"

Greece - Politics
In his speech at Keratsini Municipal theater yesterday, Prime-minister, K. Karamanlis called for a strong mandate underlining that a negative vote will lead to deadlock. He went on to say that bureaucratic procedures were overlooked and most fire victims have already received the emergency aid and a sum to replace household items while he repeated the government’s commitment for free reconstruction of the houses that have burned down. Furthermore, K. Karamanlis expressed optimism that after this experience Elia, Arkadia, Lakonia, Messinia, Korinthia and Eboia prefectures can be reborn and enter a new model of healthy and dynamic development.

Mr. Karamanlis referred to the government’s work during its 3.5 years ruling, underlining drop in deficit, creation of 200.000 new jobs, drop in unemployment rate. With regards top priorities in the second 4-term in office, the prime-minister referred to further development, consolidation of social state able to support those who are in real need.

In the meantime, ND party spokesman, K.Arbanitopoulos announced the prime-minister’s pre-election campaign program, including visit to Grevena and Kozani on Thursday and a speech in Serres in the evening. The Prime-minister will be in Thessaloniki for the International Fair at the weekend while he will deliver a speech to an open rally in Larissa, on Sunday evening.
